Last Saturday, May 23rd, our group had the amazing opportunity to take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Night at John Thurman Field. This is an event that the Modesto Nuts Professional Baseball Club holds annually in an effort to honor those who have lost their battle with cancer, raise awareness around the issue of breast cancer, and to empower women from all walks of life. Our group got decked out in pink and prepared for an amazing night with the Nuts!
Throughout the duration of the game, we had a booth set up (complete with pink tablecloth and balloons, of course) where people could find out about our mission, sign up for our newsletter. and be entered into a drawing to win one of several fabulous prizes.
Thanks to the generosity and support of Bicek Photography, we also had a photo booth set up where people could snap some great pictures with friends and family and have them instantly printed out on a photo strip for free!
Finally, the most amazing part of the night came from the minds of the women who attended this event. Prior to the game, we had constructed a chalkboard that read “I’m a Woman and with the Resources I Can…”. The rest of the board was left blank so that visitors to the board throughout the night would have the opportunity to let their voices be heard. The result was astounding:

“…be the change.”
Also, along the top of the board someone had written “We may be girls, but we are strong.” We were absolutely blown away by the responses we got from all of the amazing women who participated. Part of our mission is to have a positive impact on our community, yet on Saturday night the women of our community impacted us in a way that we will never forget.
